Beidoman
BWB, 40

  • In The Age of Legends, Mierin and Beidoman claimed to have found a thin place in the pattern that appeared to cover an undivided source of the One Power separate from the True Source.  This power did not have the restrictions of the True Source as it could be used by both men and women.  Using the One Power they bored through to the source of the unusual Power emanations.  What they actually discovered was the Dark Ones prison outside the pattern.  The hole they created has been ever after known as the Bore.  The Bore was not large enough for the Dark One to escape, but it was large enough to allow him to touch the world.

Latra Posae Decume
BWB, 45

  • A speaker of considerable force and persuasion in the Hall of the Servants.

  • Opposed Lews Therin and his plan to seal the bore.

  • Her support was for the second plan to deal with the bore.  This plan centered around two huge sa'angreal, one attuned to saidin and one to saidar, both so powerful that using them safely required special ter'angreal, like miniature versions of the great sa'angreal, constructed especially for the purpose.  Latra Posae had every female Aes Sedai in agreement with her.  This agreement was called the "Fateful Concord".  Lews Therins plan was too rash, too dangerous, and no woman would take part in it.

  • After the Strike at Shayol Ghul, Latra Posae rose to preeminence, earning the name Shadar Nor (Cutter of the Shadow, or Slicer of the Shadow), for her valiant fight against the shadowspawn.

  • Latra Posae died sometime during the Breaking, the exact date unknown.

Lews Therin Telamon
The Eye of the World, IX

  • Also known as the Dragon, and Lord of the Morning.

  • Before Lews Therin went mad he sat in the High Seat of the Hall of the Servants and was a great battle leader during the War of Power.

  • A tall man in his middle years, hair more white than brown, and dark eyes.

  • His plan to seal the bore involved a direct attack on the bore itself, to reseal the bore and cut the Dark One's access to the world.  Seven cuendillar disks, made with the One Power and marked with the seal of the Aes Sedai, were prepared to function as "focus points".  A raiding force consisted of soldiers for security and a circle of seven female Aes Sedai and six male would travel there and implant seals held by the focus points.  Latra Posae Decume opposed Lews Therin's plan and she had all the female Aes Sedai on her side, so none of them would take part in his plan.

  • A group of powerful young male Aes Sedai had supported Lews Therin during the struggle with Latra Posae.  This group was called the hundred companions, although they numbered 113.  With the hundred companions, and about 10,000 warmen Lews Therin launched his attack on the Bore.  The Dragon and his companions arrived at the Bore to find an unexpected bonus:  a gathering of the thriteen most powerful leaders of the Forsaken Aes Sedai was taking place at the Pit of Doom deep within the mountain at the same moment, perhaps summoned by the Dark One for a conference.  The Companions struck quickly, sealing the Bore safely, without ripping open the Dark One's prison as many opponents had feared.  The strike trapped all the attending Forsaken, thus removing the Dark One's touch and his leadership in the world.

  • At the instant Lews Therin and his companions sealed the bore, a backblast tainted Saidin even as the companions drew upon it. Lews Therin and the sixty-eight survivors went insane on the instant.  Within days, these powerful male Aes Sedai, armed with the One Power and completely out of control, began unleashing their might against anyone or anything that crossed their path or even caught their notice, leaving trails of death and wanton destruction. Thus began the Time of Madness.  Lews Therin in his insanity killed everyone around him including everyone he loved, even his beloved Ilyena.

  • Realizing what he has done, he channelled more power than he could handle and killed himself, leaving a mountain in his place. This mountain from now on will be called Dragonmount.

  • Now a voice in Rand's head, who has tried more than once to take control of his mind.
